Class Today- 9.6.17

Today in class we researched and defined Greek vocabulary. We learned that the agora was a public, open space used for assemblies. This was not only a great place to shop, yet a priority for locals to vote their opinion on certain matters. A polis was a city-state in Ancient Greece primarily used for philosophical. In addition we learned that in 508 B.C. democracy was introduced! This is the first time people revolted against their ruler. We also learned about the greek philosopher, Socrates, who was also a teacher. Socrates made a method, called the Socratic Method (very creative). This method taught others that you didn't necessarily have to believe the basic, usual religions and such. This method was a way to ask only questions in order to find out a person's opinion. In the end, we had a successful class of  learning new greek history and vocabulary!
