Class- 10.25.17

        Today in class we took our test. I was very nervous because this was our last grade before the end of the quarter. This meant I had to get a very good grade in order to keep my overall grade at an A. There were many questions that I saw on the test that I remembered from when we were reviewing. While on thee other hand, there were many questions that I did not remember reviewing. This included details about longitude and latitude. This also included a few other questions. The essay question took a lot of thought and effort, but I understood the concept I was writing about, even though it was difficult to write. I think this test was more challenging then the last one. I'm nervous to find out what score I got on my test because once it's in veracross there will be no assignments after, and I will have on way to bring up my grade before the end of the quarter.

Sea People and Dorians

        Today in class we discussed the age of culture decline. This time occurred after the Dorians dominated. This happened 1150 - 750 B.C.E. They ruled for four hundred years. This was not the proudest years in history. We have found zero records of writing during this tome of four hundred years. In addition,  we learned about a story teller. His name was Homer. He lived in what is known as the "Greek Dark Ages". This was because during this time things were far less advanced. He wrote the Trojan War epics. An epic is a long narrative. Homer spread his infamous stories through oral tradition. Oral tradition is word of mouth. Homer wrote the Illiad and the Odyssey. Some wonder if Homer was a mythical creature, like in his stories, because he told all his stories as a blind man. The "homeric question" is if there really was a Homer? Branches of Philosophies

        Today we continued learning about questioning how we live our lives and why. During this class we discussed the branch of philosophy that studies the nature of reality. This branch is called metaphysics. We also learned about another branch of philosophy. Epistemology is the brach that studies the nature and scope of knowledge. This branch makes us question things such as, Is everything real? We also wonder, How do I know if I'm right? As well as, How will I know if I'm wrong? Can I ever be certain about anything? This lead us into value theory. This brach consists of ethics and aesthetics. Ethics are human conduct within which you decide how to interact and live with other human beings. We question, Should I treat strangers the same as people I love? Aesthetics teaches us the nature and beauty of art. We learned a lot in class today, and had a great time.
