Sea People and Dorians

        Today in class we discussed the age of culture decline. This time occurred after the Dorians dominated. This happened 1150 - 750 B.C.E. They ruled for four hundred years. This was not the proudest years in history. We have found zero records of writing during this tome of four hundred years. In addition,  we learned about a story teller. His name was Homer. He lived in what is known as the "Greek Dark Ages". This was because during this time things were far less advanced. He wrote the Trojan War epics. An epic is a long narrative. Homer spread his infamous stories through oral tradition. Oral tradition is word of mouth. Homer wrote the Illiad and the Odyssey. Some wonder if Homer was a mythical creature, like in his stories, because he told all his stories as a blind man. The "homeric question" is if there really was a Homer? ceaser and octavian

        Today in class we learned about Ceaser and  Octavian. Ceaser's Reforms consisted of granting citizenship to people in provinces, expanding senate by adding friends, created jobs through the poor especially through public work, increased pay for soldiers, started colonies where those without land could own property, and much more. As you can see Ceaser was an excellent ruler that gave equality to all, yet the snobby rich people did not like getting less authority, thus they stabbed Caesar. He was betrayed by his fellow friend Brutus. And unfortunately the senators did not even get punished for it. After his death, Octavian, who was like a son to him took over as sole heir. And that was the end of the republic. He also had a triumvirate and it consisted of mark antony, and lepidus. But, Mark and Octavian became enemies and Mark formed a personal and political alliance with Cleopatra. Also Lepidus retired. This started the Battle of Actium. Octavian won, ya...

Greek Gods and Goddesses

        Today we learned some information on Greek Gods and Goddesses. Zeus is the ruler of heaven and earth. He was the father of Athena. He was the god of sky, weather, thunder, lightning, law, order, and justice. He was known for his temper. Everyone knew better than to threaten him because when he's angry he would through thunder bolts. Basically, just don't mess with him. Next we learned about Athena. Sh was the goddess of wisdom, skill, warfare, peace, intelligence, battle strategy, and handicrafts. The odd thing about her is that she was born a fully formed and armored adult. She birthed from Zeus' head. The city Athens was named after her, because she was the patron of the city. We also learned about the good music, art, and healing, which is Apollo. Additionally, the most famous ship was the Trireme. This was the fastest ship in the world, and was a technological marvel to all. We learned a lot in class today.
