Class- 9.15.17

Today in class we went over the difference between the Peter's projection map and the map the majority of people use in current times. The Peter's projection map is a more accurate representation of geography. The map most people use today is not geographically correct. It has incorrect proportions. It shows the United States of America much bigger than it truly is. It also displays Africa much smaller than it truly is. For some reason we haven't reacted to the change of the time. Although the map we use today was meant for sailors in the 1500's, we still haven't adapted to current, accurate geography. We watched a video of an old tv show that showed the massive difference between the accurate map (Peter's Projection Plan) and the map used today. We also watched an unfortunate and frustrating weather forecast from a man on tv. He was extremely incorrect. He displayed The United States as extremely huge, It seemed as though it took up the entire globe! This taught me to be aware of change and react in order for better accuracy. We had a great class which brought better awareness to important topics.
