Class- 9.10.17

Today in class we reviewed what we learned last class, and then learned additional information. We went over the incredible greek philosopher, Socrates, and his great accomplishments. This included the Socratic method. Despite Socrates complex, knowledgable, and new way to explore beliefs, Greece disagreed with this new way, and decided to execute him. They believed this corrupted the youth, and wanted to stay with the beliefs they already had. We also learned about synergy. There's no democracy without excellence, and there's no excellence without democracy. Each completes the other. We also learned the definition of idiot in Athenian Democracy. An idiot could have been extremely smart, yet they were self-centered. In addition, denying to be involved with public life was considered dishonorable back in that time. A famous Socrates saying is: "the unexamined life is not worth living". This wise saying means that if you're living life and you're not involved, then what is the point. We had a great class.
